Overview
The Wall That Heals – Battle Creek website was created to support a nationally recognized traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial coming to Battle Creek, Michigan in August 2026. Developed for the Calhoun County Red White Blue Foundation, the site serves as the primary source of information for visitors, volunteers, and community members engaging with the event.
The Challenge
The project required a streamlined website that could clearly communicate important event details while honoring the significance of the memorial. The site needed to follow national guidelines provided by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, while still feeling local, accessible, and easy to navigate for a wide audience.
Additionally, the build needed to remain efficient and cost-conscious, with no extended design phases or complex custom features.
The Solution
A clean, structured website was developed with a strong focus on clarity, usability, and accessibility. The homepage was designed as a central event hub, highlighting key details such as dates, location, and visitor information.
Supporting pages were created to organize event schedules, escort information, volunteer registration, tours, and the In Memory program. Integration with existing tools—such as volunteer sign-up and online donations—ensured a seamless experience without adding unnecessary complexity.
The design approach was inspired by established Wall That Heals sites, creating a familiar and trustworthy experience while tailoring the content to the Battle Creek community.
